Charity Stitching
Sometimes stitchers like to use our skills to give a little bit back!
Here are links to websites where you can use your stitching skills to brighten somebody's life.
If you have any links to other charity stitching sites, or if you're a charity stitcher and you'd like me to add a picture of one of your projects please feel free to contact me.
Doll making
The Comfort Doll Project collects handmade dolls to send to Women's Shelters, to bring a touch of sunshine to the lives of abused women.
These are a few dolls I sent in. There are some absolutely beautiful dolls featured on the site sent in by stitchers from around the world. If you'd like to get involved all the details are available at the Comfort Dolls website.
Dolly Donations
Dolly Donations is a new project aiming to bring the gift of a doll to children in orphanages. I made these dolls to send to an orphanage in Haiti - the initial Dolly Drive was so successful it looks like they're going to double their target of 181 dolls meaning that other children in the local area will also receive a doll. More Dolly Drives will be coming soon - find out more at the Dolly Donations blog.
Cross Stitch
Love Quilts is a wonderful charity which collects cross stitched squares from volunteers around the world and makes them into quilts for children with life threatening illnesses and disabilities.
On the site you can read about each child and the theme they've chosen for their special quilt, then you can register to make a square - this is a square I made for a young girl in Australia who chose a Fairy theme.
